Crane COLLAPSE: Strikes 25-Story Building Near Wall Street

The Huffington Post - A listing crane has struck a 25-story building near Wall Street, crumbling its facade and leading to evacuations at five buildings. The Fire Department of New York says there were no injuries Saturday after the crane hit a 23rd-story ledge of a building on Maiden Lane, three blocks from Wall Street. Police say part of the lower Manhattan building's facade fell.

Firefighters say the base of the crane is on the other side of the street from the building and the crane is leaning on the building. Mechanics are trying to reposition it.

Traffic has been diverted. Streets have been closed.

The struck building and three others have been evacuated. Another is partially evacuated. The buildings are in the Financial District and have residential units and commercial space.
