Who Owns the Digital You?

Huffington Post - "Blue Beetle" gets it. He is an online commenter who wrote this about advertiser-driven free sites: "If you aren't paying for it, then you aren't the customer any more, you are the product being sold." He understands deeply what I was trying to express in my last article.

The major players in the Internet space (Facebook, Google, etc.) have moved to a single economic model with a singular goal: to make public, monetize and commodify the "digital you" -- the online persona that is your digital identity in the networked marketplaces we increasingly all inhabit.
